【特別オーダー　KEIKO KUROISHI x INTERIOR CHABAKO】

茶箱とは本来、お茶の葉を新鮮に保存・運搬するため、江戸時代から使われてきた杉の木箱です。防湿、防虫、酸化防止のため、内側にはトタンが施され、その性能の高さから、衣類や食品など、さまざまな物の保存に使われてきました。

インテリア茶箱クラブの「インテリア茶箱®」は、そんな伝統的な茶箱に、古今東西の美しい布を貼り込み、機能性のみならず高いデザイン性をも実現した「見せる／魅せる収納家具」です。

ベースとなる茶箱の素材は静岡県川根本町産の杉。長い時間をかけて風雨に晒し、乾燥させ、歪みやそりが発生しないよう処理された樹齢30年以上の間伐材を使用し、静岡県優秀技能者表彰を受けた前田宥(ひろし)氏の匠の手により形づくられます。

テキスタイルブランドKEIKO KUROISHI とのコラボレーションでは、ニューヨーク近代美術館MoMAをはじめ、世界の一流ミュージアムショップでロングセラーとなっているスカーフのためのファブリックを生かし、３つのサイズの特別オーダー品が誕生しました。セレクトされたデザインは「オリビエ（オリーブの樹）」と「エトワール・フィラント（流れ星）」。前者は「愛」や「平和」、「勝利」などを象徴するオリーブをモチーフにした人気のデザイン。後者は、満天の星空からこぼれ落ちるような流れ星をモチーフにした新作です。いずれも艶のあるコットンサテンを手作業でグラデーションに染めあげています。

【Special Order: KEIKO KUROISHI x INTERIOR CHABAKO】

The origin of chabako is a Japanese cedar box used since the Tokugawa period for the purpose of preserving the freshness of and transporting tea leaves. The inside of the box is lined in tin to avoid moisture, insects and oxidation. Because of its high performance as a box, it’s been used to preserve a variety of things such as clothes, food, etc.

Interior Chabako® by the Interior Chabako Club is a piece of “storage furniture to show/attract” with exquisite fabrics from all times and places lined inside a traditional chabako, delivering not only its functionality but also its distinguished quality of design.

The basic material of Interior Chabako® is a Japanese cedar produced in the town of Kawanehoncho in Shizuoka Prefecture. The thinned timber used in this chabako is more than 30 years old, and it has been exposed to the weather for a long time, followed by drying and processing to prevent warpage and bend. The shape of the box is crafted by an artisan Hiroshi Maeda, who was awarded by Shizuoka Prefecture as a person with an outstanding skill.

In collaboration with the textile brand KEIKO KUROISHI, special ordered items with three size options have been introduced by using the long-seller textile design for the scarves sold at the museum shops in the world’s top museums such as MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art) in New York. The designs selected here are “Oliviers (Olive Trees)” and “xI鉛oiles Filantes (Shooting Stars).” The former is a popular design with an olive as the symbol of “love,” “peace,” and “victory.” The latter is a new motif depicting shooting stars overflowing from the star-studded sky. Both designs are manually dyed in breath-taking gradation on lustrous cotton satin.
